Victory in Croatia against Ukraine today would guarantee Pete Russell's side World Championship promotion from Division 1B to Division 1A.

GB controlled the game in Zagreb and were already 5-0 up when Tigers defenceman Weaver completed their scoring by rifling in low from left circle on the powerplay, his second goal of the tournament.

Earlier strikes from Jonathan Phillips, Jonathan Boxill, Robert Farmer, Colin Shields and Matthew Myers had set up the win although Romania did manage a late consolation.

Head coach Russell, said: "We did well out there. It wasn't pretty but we did what we had to do.

"They are such a focused bunch of guys and nothing seems to put them off their stride.

"This was a game we were expected to win and they went out and did that.

"It sets up a massive gold-medal match and it is a game we have been building towards all week."
