Nothing will stop us in play-offs, says Telford Tigers skipper

Telford Tigers captain Jason Silverthorn says "nothing will stop" his side at this weekend's Coventry play-off finals tournament.

Telford are favourites to complete a triple crown of major trophies, following victories in the English Premier League and British Challenge Cup.

The Skydome will be something of a cauldron for Saturday's semi-final against Peterborough Phantoms, as opposing fans adopt an 'anyone but Telford' mantra.

Silverthorn believes a repeat of his side's season-long work ethic could prove crucial if they are to emerge with a third major honour.

He said: "All the guys have worked extremely hard this season to get the team to where it is.

"I believe there are a lot of naysayers, who have said we've bought this and that.

"But they've not been involved in the long games on the road, when we've come back and taken points.

"The boys have made a massive effort to win two trophies so far this year.

"There is nothing that will stop us from doing it again in Coventry."

Telford's preparations this week have followed a similar pattern to the regular season, with daily training sessions and tactical analysis.

Victory in the semi-final would put them into a Sunday final against Milton Keynes Lightning or Manchester Phoenix.

Silverthorn added: "You have to take it day by day and make sure you peak at the right time. We've been using the same routine as the rest of the season, because it is still potentially a two-game weekend.

"You've got to get through the first game, of course, so it is still one game at a time. It doesn't change much of the mentality of the preparation."

The Tigers skipper admitted his team's 'one game at a time' approach may seem repetitive – but will be happy if it leads to the treble.

"People might see it as monotonous, but that is what you have to do," he added.

"You can come in and win a period, then another period, and then another. If you do that, then you've won the game.

"It's baby steps, in order to reach the final goal."
