Buoyant boss Graham Turner has hailed the developing partnerships which have sent Shrewsbury Town soaring back to the top of League Two.

Strike duo Jake Robinson and Matt Harrold grabbed the limelight in Saturday's deserved 3-1 home victory over Northampton.

They accounted for all three goals to take their combined tally for the season so far to 11, with Robinson leading the way with seven strikes.

And Turner admits that is not the only pairing which is offering him hope and encouragement for the future.

"The two strike lads are doing their jobs extremely well," he said.

"They are up there to score goals, hold the ball up for us and provide good movement and it's forming a good partnership.

"Ian Sharps and Shane Cansdell-Sherriff looked very solid against difficult opponents on Saturday so there is the formation of a good partnership there.

"Mat Sadler and Mark Wright on the left side are combining well and the two central midfield players (Craig Disley and Sean McAllister) are getting to know each other.

"The players have adapted extremely well to coming into the club and building new partnerships and we have to push it on now."

Turner was pleased to see his side return back to the League Two summit but is refusing to get carried away.

"It's nice to look at the League table but we have played seven matches," he added.

"This is the first game of the second chunk of six games so we are off to a winning start again and the whole afternoon was quite satisfactory."

Winger Lionel Ainsworth was ruled out of Saturday's game after reporting a minor groin twinge in the 48 hours before the game.

But the Town staff remain confident the former Hereford and Huddersfield man will be available for Saturday's trip to Wycombe.
