Greg Halford rescues his Wolves career

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today revealed Greg Halford has rescued his Molineux career after sparkling in pre-season.
McCarthy said recently that the £2m signing from Sunderland would be on his way if he didn't perform before the season kick-off.
But Halford has rejuvenated himself this summer and was the star of last night's 2-0 friendly win at Hearts as he scored with a superb free kick before one of his trademark throws was headed home by Stephen Ward.
"Let's give him a bit of credit he's trained well in pre-season," said McCarthy.
"Why would I even question that someone of his ability shouldn't be at the club? He's got lots to offer.
"Now he's done it for us and fair play to him he's had a good pre-season.
"Since he came back at the start of the summer, he has shown a desire to stay and I can't ask for any more than that.
"I'm not going to give him praise because he scored one goal and made another though, I'm more likely to give him even more stick that he doesn't do it week-in, week-out. But he's done well."
Meanwhile, McCarthy insisted he hasn't had any contact from Crystal Palace regarding a loan for Sam Vokes, who has been heavily linked with a switch to Selhurst Park.
But the Molineux chief refused to rule out the Wales international leaving on a temporary move.
