Alex Meechan will line up for AFC Telford United tonight when they begin their pre-season programme with a trip to The New Saints.
The former Bristol City, Chester and Forest Green marksman has been training with the Bucks during the past week and will feature in the opening friendly.
Manager Andy Sinton is confident of agreeing a deal with Meechan over the coming days.
"We spoke to Alex the other day and he wants to come," said Sinton.
"It's just a case of sitting down with him and agreeing a deal and I don't think that will be a problem."
Sinton plans to make the trip to TNS with a squad of 19.
Former Shrewsbury pair David Maguire and Will Richards - a goalkeeper and midfielder - will be included as trialists.
"We are looking forward to it," said Sinton. "The boys have been excellent in training and the vast majority of them will get a run out tonight.
"We will go there trying to win the game but the result isn't the be-all-and-end-all.
"It will be a tough game against a good side who are ahead of us in their preparations.
"We are also playing on an artificial pitch we are not used to so we have to take all those things into account when we get to assessing the game."
TNS can go into tonight's friendly in good heart after two good workouts in Northern Ireland, first defeating Glentoran 2-0 before drawing 0-0 at Linfield last Saturday.
Manager Mike Davies is expecting another good test as his side builds up for next week's Champions League clash at Irish outfit Bohemians.
Tickets
"Those performances will put us in good stead while we're expecting another good test for us tonight," said Davies.
The Saints are at full strength with front runner Matt Berkeley returning to the squad after missing last weekend's action.
Meanwhile, tickets for the Saints' home tie in the Champions League on Tuesday, July 20 will go on sale at the club from today, costing £10 with no concessions.
