Sidelined Shrewsbury strikers Nathan Elder and Kris Bright are eyeing rapid recoveries from the injuries which have ruled them out of the start of pre-season training. Elder is recovering from surgery on his knee after tearing the cruciate ligament during last season's loan spell with AFC Wimbledon, while Bright has begun his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery. But manager Graham Turner is confident the duo can make faster-than-expected returns. Read more in today's Shropshire Star
"Kris Bright's schedule was originally eight weeks from the operation but he tells me he is a lot more optimistic than that eight week period," said Turner.
"Nathan is also optimistic he will be back before the forecasts of March time.
"He thinks by the turn of the year, he could be back in action.
"It's a shame that players of the calibre of Kris and Nathan are not available immediately but these things happen in football."
Meanwhile, Turner has stressed his desire to bring an entertaining brand of football to the Greenhous Meadow next season — even if it takes his squad time to adjust.
"We want to get the ball down and build from the back," said Turner.
"It will be a patient game and it might take a little time for the players to get the feeling for that game and style of play and to get the understanding.
"We want to hit the ground running when the big kick-off takes place in the first week of August but if it doesn't happen (straight away) then we might have to just be a little bit patient until we sort things out properly."
