Shrewsbury Town are hoping to cash in on the Graham Turner boom by smashing their record for season ticket sales.

Turner's appointment as manager for the second time has sparked a major upsurge in business at the Greenhous Meadow ticket office.

Total sales - including corporate packages - currently stand at 2,800, and officials are hopeful that number could exceed last season's record of 3,200 before the start of the 2010-11 season on August 14.

"We have definitely seen a big impact since Graham Turner was appointed manager," said Ian Bebbington, Town's operations and communications manager.

"We were probably selling four or five season tickets a day before Graham's appointment and now it's 35 or 40 a day.

"The feelgood factor the appointment has generated is there for all to see.

"There's no doubt it's tough out there at the moment with the state of the economy but we are very hopeful we can beat last season's record."

Chairman Roland Wycherley is delighted at the impact Turner's arrival has had around the entire club.

"The warmth of comments made to me and the club by fans who are excited by his appointment is very heartening," said the Shrewsbury supremo.

Fresh approach

"Suddenly there is a more optimistic feeling about this coming season.

"There is a feelgood factor about the club and we all look forward to the coming season with a fresh approach.

"There is hope that with entertaining football - and a possible good cup run - all of us fans will be clamouring through the turnstiles and looking forward to success on the field."
