Lorry fire closes M5 causing long rush hour delays
Traffic was held on the M5 northbound between Junction 8 and Junction 7 for Worcester South due to a lorry fire.
The blaze has been extinguished and traffic released but delays are still building in the area of up to 45 minutes.
The lorry was carrying milk powder. Two lanes have been closed to recover the load.
The fire broke out at around 6.30am on Thursday.
A spokesperson for Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "A fire was in the cab area and trailer of a lorry carrying milk powder and this was fought using a hosereel jet.
"A complete closure of the northbound carriageway was in place with smoke affecting the southbound carriageway. Lane three of the northbound carriageway reopened at 7:58am. Police (log 59i) were also in attendance. The incident was marked as pending closure at 8:45am."
