Developers failed with a second attempt to gain planning permission for the homes on the site of Tadgedale Quarry in Loggerheads.

The applicants Renew Land Developments lodged an appeal with a government planning inspector after the original plans were turned down by councillors earlier this year.

Members of Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council refused the latest application after fears were raised the development would not be sustainable.

The proposals for the site, off Eccleshall Road. attracted almost 40 objections from members of the public, who claimed the homes would impact on already over-stretched services.

Now a public inquiry will be held by the planning inspector at the civic offices in Newcastle-under-Lyme on January 24, at 10am.
