Expansion backed for traveller site near Welshpool
Plans to extend a traveller site near Welshpool have been approved by councillors.
The application for two additional pitches, an amenity building and parking, together with the relocation of an existing field access at Leighton Arches Gypsy and Traveller Site received unanimous backing from Powys County Council's planning committee.
Louise Evans, the authority's planning officer, said the need for development came about following an assessment the council were required to undertake, which was deemed necessary under guidance from the Welsh Government.
The plans received no objections.
It comes as Shropshire Council's north planning committee unanimously refused an application for a traveller site to be built on fields adjacent to Drenewydd Farm, at Park Hall, near Oswestry this week.
