'You plonker Ed' - Why Shrewsbury MP sees red
Shrewsbury MP Daniel Kawczynski today labelled Labour leader Ed Miliband a 'plonker' - and admitted he is bad for his health.
The Tory MP hit out at Mr Miliband after being told to calm down during a fiery Prime Minister's Question Time in the Commons yesterday.
Mr Kawczynski was rebuked by speaker John Bercow for shouting as Mr Miliband and Prime Minister David Cameron clashed over the 'Plebgate' scandal engulfing chief whip Andrew Mitchell.
But Mr Kawczynski today hit back saying it was no wonder he was looking red faced and flabbergasted because Mr Miliband 'plays havoc' with his health.
"The Speaker did tell me calm down, but I am not surprised because I was shouting loudly at Mr Miliband. He (the Speaker) was worried about me because I was looking red faced and flabbergasted.
"But I am afraid Mr Miliband does play havoc with my health - he is a plonker."
The Speaker stepped in during angry scenes during yesterday's debate, telling the Shrewsbury MP (at 17:00 in the video above): "Mr Kawczynski I am very worried about your health, you are shouting in a bizarre manner, calm yourself down and get a grip."
Mr Miliband caused uproar after declaring Mr Mitchell's position was untenable and he was toast.
Conservative MPs last night gave their backing to Mr Mitchell at a meeting of the backbench 1922 committee. But four MPs were said to have voiced concerns about the chief whip's future.
