The lorry crashed at around 10.30am on Thursday, leaving the A529 Adderley Road blocked.

A photo published by Market Drayton Fire Station showed the lorry on its side and blocking the road, with the trailer pushed towards a hedge at the side of the carriageway.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were all in attendance.

WMAS later confirmed that only minor injuries were sustained during the crash.

A spokesperson said: “We were called at 10.30am to reports of a road traffic collision involving a HGV on Tittenley Junction to Shavington in Spoonley, Market Drayton. One ambulance, a paramedic officer and a Community First Responder attended the scene.

"On arrival we found two patients. Both were assessed and had sustained injuries believed to be minor. They received self care advice and were discharged at the scene.”

Police have also asked motorists to find alternative routes while the road is closed.

North Shropshire Safer Neighbourhood Team tweeted: "Please be aware the A529 is likely to be CLOSED for a while due to damage caused to the road."
