Woman, 68, taken to hospital after car overturns in Shrewsbury crash

A 68-year-old woman was taken to hospital after her car overturned in Shrewsbury today.

The two-car crash happened on London Road outside Prestfelde Preparatory School at about 2.15pm.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said the woman had tried to get out of the car, which was resting on the passenger side, but had become caught on the driver's side.

An ambulance and a paramedic support officer were at the scene.

Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "When we arrived there was an off-duty doctor keeping the patient still.

"She had minor cuts and bruising and was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital as a precaution."

Two fire crews from Shrewsbury and police were also called to the scene.
