A van on a recovery truck burst into flames on the A483 near Welshpool causing heavy traffic.

The driver of the recovery vehicle pulled over and made a 999 call when he realised the transit van was on fire.

The fire blocked the road for over an hour between Welshpool and Berriew.

A spokeswoman for Mid and West Wales Fire Service said the van was destroyed in the blaze.
