70 warnings issued to double yellow line parkers at The Wrekin

Almost 70 warning notices have been issued to drivers parking on double yellow lines at The Wrekin.

Reports were made to West Mercia Police was told that the problem had been causing congestion issues where the cars were parked, at the base of the Wrekin.

The force was also informed that the matter and was a safety issue for walkers.

There were also concerns that the illegally parked vehicles could restrict larger vehicles and emergency services from getting to surrounding villages.

Police officers have been patrolling in the area and they have handed out dozens of warning notices.

They have warned that repeat offenders, who ignore the warning and continue to park on double yellow lines, will be given a £30 penalty ticket.

Officers say they will continue monitoring the situation and, as of yet, there have been no repeat offenders ticketed.
