Pictures: Shrewsbury Town physio comes to rescue of crash victims

Shrewsbury Town physio Chris Skitt doubled-up as a roadside paramedic to help the victims of crash as the team returned from their match at AFC Wimbledon.

Surrey Police shared an image on Twitter at about 7.30pm last night, where Skitt could be seen tending to an injured party on a stretcher.

Officers tweeted:

It was reported that an elderly duo were injured in the crash involving a Toyota.

As the Town team coach - returning players and staff from the 1-1 draw at Kingsmeadow - was stuck in the ensuing traffic, the Salop physio jumped out to lend his assistance.

Skitt, who grew up near Shrewsbury, initially served as physio to the club's youth team before making the step up.

After the incident on the A3, he tweeted:

The physio thanked well-wishers for their support over the incident before claiming "I'm sure it's what anyone else would do."
