Man dies a week after being found with head injuries on Market Drayton street

A man who was found with head injuries on a Market Drayton street has died - and police are stepping up their investigations to find out what happened to him.

Mr Whittingham was taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital but sadly passed away.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area of Smithfield Road in Market Drayton between the hours of 11.40pm on June 13 and the time he was found by a member of the public at 12.08am, on June 14.

A post mortem was conducted yesterday, but the findings have yet to be concluded.

Detective Inspector Scott Harris of West Mercia Police said: "We do not wish to alarm our communities; enquiries are currently in the early stages to try and establish what has taken place and how Graham came to be in Smithfield road with serious head injuries.

"Officers would like reassure the community, that this should not affect their daily routine and continue as normal.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen Mr Whittingham, who was wearing a black coat, dark blue jeans with a belt, a white polo shirt with red trim and black shoes."
