Five arrested after police execute drug warrants in Oswestry

Five people have been arrested after drug warrants were executed in the Oswestry area.

Officers from West Mercia Police made five arrests following the execution of drugs warrants at three addresses in the Oswestry area on Wednesday,

Warrants were carried out at addresses in Shelf Bank Close and Queen Elizabeth Close in Oswestry, as well as Applewood Heights in West Felton, which led to a large amount of suspected class A and class B drugs being seized.

A 34-year-old man from Powys, a 19-year-old man from Liverpool and a 51-year-old man from Oswestry were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class A.

While a 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, both from Oswestry, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B.

Inspector John Weaver of West Mercia Police said: "We will continue to target drug dealing to keep our communities safe from the harm caused by drugs.

"The warrants executed yesterday are an example of how we will act decisively to tackle any reports of drug dealing in the area."

The 51-year-old man, 19-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, all from Oswestry, were bailed until July 20.

The 34-year-old man from Powys and 19-year-old man from Liverpool are currently in police custody.
