A fire broke out in a flat in the early hours after cooking was left unattended in the kitchen.

The alarm was raised at a flat in Bradford Street in Shifnal after the fire broke out. Firefighters used a hose reel jet to put out the fire and one person at the flat received treatment for smoke inhalation.

The fire broke out at about 3.15am on Saturday, according to a spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.

A fire also broke out in a garage attached to a semi-detached house in Neenton, near Bridgnorth, at about 10.25am on Saturday.

No-one was hurt and the scene was clear by 11.1am.

A smell of petrol was also reported at a house in Severn Drive in Wellington at 8.30pm on Saturday. It was found to have been caused by paint thinners.

Meanwhile firefighters in Telford tackled a fire involving a road roller.

The fire happened on Holywell Lane in Lightmoor, Telford, at about 12.40pm on Saturday and was dealt with by one hose reel jet.
