Cyclist killed and man hurt in Shropshire crash

One man has died and another was seriously injured after a crash involving a number of vehicles on a country road in south Shropshire today. The incident happened at 8.15am.

It was on the B4368 Corvedale Road about a mile to the east of Craven Arms.

A cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene while another man – who was believed to have been injured while tending to him – was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with a suspected broken leg.

Police believe several vehicles were involved in the accident and have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses.

The road was closed for several hours between Craven Arms and Diddlebury following incident. It was expected to reopen late this afternoon.

Richard Ewels, spokesman for West Mercia Police, said: "Sadly, one person has died and another has been seriously injured.

"We are very anxious to hear from any witnesses or from anyone who thinks they might have information which could help the police investigation.
