Fuel spill as skip lorry overturns in Shrewsbury
Motorists faced diversions in Shrewsbury today after a skip lorry overturned, spilling a large quantity of fuel across the road.
The incident happened just before 11am on Knights Way, Battlefield Enterprise Park, in Shrewsbury, and left the large HGV on its side across the highway.
Police and fire crews as well as highways chiefs were on scene to deal with the large leak of fuel from the vehicle's tank, as well as debris from the lorry's skip, but nobody was injured following the crash.

The road was left closed for more than four hours while the fuel was dealt with and the truck was removed from the road with officers from West Mercia Police setting up diversions for drivers.
Inspector Emma Wright, of West Mercia Police, said: "The call came in at 10.52am and it looks like our officers sent an urgent request to the council for assistance because of the fuel leak across the road and fire crews have also been on scene too.
"It is actually on the Enterprise Park so it hasn't caused too many problems for traffic but the main issue is the large amount of fuel which has clearly leaked across the highway. No ambulance was needed on scene as there were no injuries reported."
A spokesman for Shropshire Fire & Rescue Service said: "No-one was trapped after the incident so it was just a services call and we send one appliance from Shrewsbury to the scene. It was mainly to deal with a fuel spillage from the engine but this was dealt with fairly swiftly."
