Bridie Shevlin waited outside a house in Ludlow Drive, Stirchley, while a man burgled the property, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard.

Mr Thomas Kenning, prosecuting, said a window was smashed and a watch and television worth more than £2,000 were taken.

CCTV showed 25-year-old Shevlin stood near to the address on February 27.

Mr Kenning said the pair then disappeared but were seen getting on a bus with the TV. He said they went to Cash Converters in Wellington.

Mr Kenning said: "They tried to haggle. An amount of money was rejected by them."

He said they took the items with them and left the shop. Mr Kenning said police looked at CCTV and recognised the offenders. They later found the TV and watch at another man's address.

Shevlin was arrested but answered "no comment" to questions during a police interview.

Shevlin, previously of Villa Court, Madeley, pleaded guilty to handling stolen goods and two counts of failing to attend court.

Mr Adrian Roberts, representing Shevlin, said she was a mother of two.

He said she had been "clean" from drugs for a long time but was reintroduced to them. Judge Peter Barrie said it was a "serious offence" and if she had been convicted after a trial she would have been jailed for 18 weeks. He said he would give her credit for her guilty plea and handed her a 12-week prison sentence.

He also ordered that she serve one day in prison for each of the offences of failing to attend court, to run concurrently with the 12-week jail term.
