Police said the thugs ripped out the plants from one of the display baskets in the town square.

It is believed to have happened late on Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday.

Constable Mick Sturland, of West Mercia Police's safer neighbourhood team, said: "Someone thought it would be good to rip out plants from one of the floral display baskets in the square.

"Whilst it may have been a great joke at the time, a lot of effort and expense goes into making the town look attractive and in fact, it is criminal damage, as plants cost.

"We're checking the CCTV but if anyone does know the name of the culprit, I'd like to know."
