Up to 10 allotment sheds have been damaged following a raid by burglars in Shrewsbury.

The offenders managed to gain entry to some of the sheds at the allotments in Sutton Lane and a Stihl strimmer was stolen, although police are still waiting to hear from some of the owners of the sheds over whether any other items are missing.

Police have said it is likely that whoever targeted the sheds was in the allotments, which are surrounded by a six-foot metal fence, for some time and police are keen to hear from anyone who might have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the area between 6pm on Wednesday and 7.30am the following day.

Anyone who has been offered a strimmer like the one stolen for sale under suspicious circumstances is also asked to get in touch.

Information can be passed on to West Mercia Police via 101 or by calling the anonymous and independent Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
