The 18 year old, who has not been named, was due to appear at Shrewsbury Magistrates Court after being charged by the police on Saturday night.

He is accused of murdering Danny Jones, of Chirk, who died in hospital after being stabbed in Oswestry on Wednesday.

Mr Jones, a trainee accountant, suffered a single stab wound in the incident in Lord Street next to the Oak Street car park at about 8.10pm.

He was taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by ambulance but doctors were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police said that the man charged with his murder was a local man.

He was arrested in the Llansilin area, just across the border in Powys, at about 3am on Thursday.
