The trust is hoping to find the pooches new families in time for Christmas but of course anyone taking one of the dogs home will be taking it for life and not just the festive period.

  • To find out more, you can call 0300 303 0292 or visit Dogs Trust Shrewsbury at Roden Lane Farm, Telford, Shropshire, TF6 6BP

  • The Rehoming Centre’s normal opening hours are Friday-Tuesday 12pm-4pm, closed on Wednesdays and open 12pm-7.30pm on Thursdays

  • Go to dogstrust.org.uk to check out opening times over the Christmas period.

A spokesman for the trust said: "Whilst millions of families enjoy their Christmas with their canine companions, the Dogs Trust Shrewsbury team will be making sure that those without a home of their own have the best time possible.

"However we have highlighted 12 of our dogs who have got their paws crossed in the hope that they cab find a comfy sofa in time for Santa arriving."

This year Dogs Trust Shrewsbury has found homes for 840 dogs.

The dogs the trust takes in rage from those found in a desperate state wandering the streets to those who through no fault of their own could sadly no longer stay with their families.

Whatever the reason they have found themselves homeless and the team at Dogs Trust Shrewsbury makes sure they have everything they need whilst they are at the Rehoming Centre waiting for their special someone to walk through the doors and fall in love with them.

As Christmas approaches, the charity is keen to remind everyone of their slogan, 'A dog is for life, not just for Christmas' in the hope that 2017 will see fewer four-legged friends without a home.

Dogs Trust is the UK's largest dog welfare charity. The charity cares for almost 17,000 stray and abandoned dogs each year through its network of centres.
