The hottest day of 2016 may be experienced as Shropshire enters the second week of September.

Some parts of the county may reach 30C (86F) tomorrow as part of a late heatwave.

It means Shropshire could be as warm as Bangkok in Thailand, and hotter than predictions for Madrid and Los Angeles.

While most parts of the county are expected to bask in temperatures in the high 20s, there is a chance that 30C will be reached in sheltered areas. That would make it the hottest September day for 55 years.

The hot spell is likely to extend into Wednesday, although there is also the chance of thunderstorms.

Met Office forecaster Simon Partridge said: "It is caused by hot air coming from southern France and northern Spain."
