The 45-year-old was in town to officially open The Workout in New Street, Wellington, which is run by 23-year-old Elishah Crutchley and her mother Patsy.

The pair asked the former X Factor contestant to come along and hold a masterclass for selected guests on the weekend.

Following his appearance on the hit ITV show in 2005, Chico developed his own fitness regime called Blockfit and Elishah was one of his first students to take up the discipline.

Now she is offering classes in it and other fitness regimes including Zumba, Clubbercise, Poppercise and HIIT, at her new gym.

Chico said: "I was delighted to be asked to open Elishah's new gym. She was one of my first students anywhere in the country and the first in Shropshire to train as a Blockfit instructor.

"She has put a great deal of hard work and determination in to being one of the best at Blockfit and her efforts have paid off. I now have 350 Blockfit instructors around the country. Just call me the modern-day Mr Motivator.

"The difference between Blockfit and other fitness regimes is that Blockfit uses four different disciplines to deliver a class. These are dance, combat, high and low intensity and yoga with meditation and it is all performed to original songs by myself.

"They might not have loved me on the X Factor but thousands of people across the UK like my music now."
