Police in Newport reported that Forton Road was flooded near to the town's rugby club.

They said the road was passable with care.

It is is the latest flooding in the area after a week of bad weather. A fire crew from Newport was dispatched to Wellington Road at Honnington on Tuesday where police had already helped a driver from his car.

A diversion was needed to help prevent other drivers from becoming stranded.

Meanwhile buckets were deployed today at two Shrewsbury shopping centres after rain began seeping through the roof.

Managers of the Pride Hill and Darwin Shopping Centres said the action was taken during heavy rainfall. Customers spotted three buckets in the Pride Hill centre and another two in the Darwin Centre.

Shrewsbury Shopping Centre manger, Kevin Lockwood, said: "I can confirm that the roof is 25 years old and despite efforts to actively repair sections of it, rain water still finds the next weakest point of entry.

"We have experienced some unusually heavy rainfall and have instigated our wet weather procedure."
