Councillors last night voted in favour of plans put forward by Greenhous Group to redevelop the 34-acre Angel Centre, near High Ercall, to store vehicles and prepare them for sale.

Some members of Telford & Wrekin Council's planning committee said it was important for the site to be put back into use, while others raised concerns about access and operating hours.

Local residents have raised concerns about big car transporters travelling down narrow lanes near their homes.

Speaking at a meeting of the planning committee last night, Councillor Peter Scott said: "I have been on site and it is crying out for something.

"It's huge and the fact it's empty is such a shame. I appreciate there are problems with highways."
