Three treated as crash closes Shropshire border road

Three people were treated after a car ended up in a ditch on the side of a country road near the Shropshire border today.

Two air ambulances rushed to the scene after a red Citreon C5 left the road, closing the A495 at Bronington, near Whitchurch, in both directions.

Both the Midlands and Welsh Air Ambulances were called to the scene between Bronington and Conery Lane Farm at about 11.20am.

North Wales Police said it received a report that three people were trapped, but when officers arrived at the scene, all three were out of the car. The said Shropshire and North Wales fire crews escorted three people from the carwho were then treated by air ambulance staff.

Officials say nobody required hospital treatment.

Claire Brown, press officer for West Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, said: "It was a non-injury incident.

"The Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford and an ambulance attended but no-one required hospital treatment."

A spokeswoman for Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two fire appliances were mobilised from Ellesmere and Whitchurch.

"We assisted North Wales Fire Service in dealing with a road traffic collision involving one car.

"Three people were escorted from vehicle by fire service personnel and treated by air ambulance personnel." The road was closed for nearly 40 minutes while checks were made.

The Midlands Air Ambulance and Welsh Air Ambulance

Shropshire and Cheshire fire crews were helping three people who were reportedly trapped.

The road was closed in both directions. Both the Midlands Air Ambulance and Welsh Air Ambulance as well as a land ambulance were at the scene but no one needed hospital treatment.
