Dog suffers serious injuries after being dragged behind car

A dog suffered serious injuries after it was dragged along behind a car.

Gerty, the Westland Terrier suffered serious injuries to her front legs and mouth when she was dragged along behind a red Volkswagen Ludo.

An off-duty police officer was able to rescue the dog from the scene in Aston Street, Wem.

She is now in the care of the RSPCA following the incident which happened at around 9.40pm on Sunday night.

The woman who was driving the car is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
