Telford stabbing: Two charged with attempted murder

Two men from Telford have been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing in the town.

Shaquil Sheamus Sultan, aged 19, from Manor Road, Telford, and Mohammed Kabir Zaman, aged 27, from Victoria Avenue, Telford, have both been charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon following an incident on Woollam Road, Arleston, on Thursday.

Both men have been remanded in custody and will appear at Telford Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police were called at 11.46pm on thursday to a report of a group of men fighting in the street.

A 32-year-old man from Telford received stab wounds to his chest. He is currently in hospital where his condition is described as stable.

Another man, aged 20, from Telford, has also been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He has been bailed until the end of April.

Detective Inspector Mark Bellamy said: "Our investigations into the disorder on Thursday night are ongoing and we are searching for other people involved. We are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or who has information that may help with our investigation.

"We will continue with high visibility patrols in the area over the weekend and to engage with the local community to provide reassurance following this incident."
