Angela Colohan is accused of acting as the getaway driver in a raid on the Corner Shop in Morda, near Oswestry.

Natalie Kirkham was initially arrested alongside Colohan after police stopped the car they were travelling in, Shrewsbury Crown Court heard yesterday.

The court was previously told that when police were called to the scene of the robbery in November 2014, officers were given a partial registration plate and colour for the car that gunman Jamie Watkiss escaped in after the raid.

A black car matching the description and partial plate went past the shop while officers were outside – and police pursued and eventually brought the black Honda Accord, driven by Colohan, to a stop.

Giving evidence, Ms Kirkham said as they were stopped by police and the car doors were opened, Colohan said: "I've been with you all night Natalie haven't I?"

She claimed it was later she thought that Colohan was trying to use her for an "alibi".

She said she then overheard a conversation between Colohan and another man about "robbing a shop".

Colohan, aged 31, of Hammonds Place, Gobowen, denies robbery and being in possession of an imitation firearm with intent to commit the offence. The trial continues.
