Chris Masters, from Lawley Village, Telford, suffered a heart attack on holiday but his family have been unable to transport him home as there have been no hospital beds available in the county to suit his needs.

The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust have announced that Mr Masters arrived in the county within the past few hours and is now being treated in the intensive care unit at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital on Mytton Oak Road.

David Burrows, a spokesman for Sath, said: "I can confirm he is now being treated in the ITU at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

"He arrived this morning, but I cannot give a specific time."

Mr Masters needs to be moved into intensive care, but none have been available in the county's hospitals. A bed has been arranged in one of the county's intensive care units, but arrangements have been ongoing over the weekend between Shropshire and Thailand to bring Mr Masters home.

Posts by Mr Masters' family on Facebook say that he is doing well and making good progress, but they have been keen to be able to bring him back to Shropshire.

Attempts have been made to take him to hospitals elsewhere within the West Midlands but with no avail.
