So what are these microchips? Well they are as small as a grain of rice.

The sterile microchip is roughly the size of a grain of rice and is implanted just under a dog's skin between its shoulder blades.

Each chip contains a unique identification number that is listed on a national database which holds all the owner's contact details such as their address and phone number.

If a dog is lost or dumped, a warden will be able to scan the chip and find the owner's details immediately. At least that is the theory.

If you need to update your contact details such as address or phone number then upgrade to Petlog Premium to amend your details at www.petlog.org.uk
