The A49 will be shut in both directions from 9pm tonight to 6am tomorrow, between Craven Arms and Bromfield, north of Ludlow.

The road is being closed for emergency resurfacing works on Onibury Bridge, which carries the A49 over the River Onny. A diversion will be in place via the B4368 at Craven Arms and B4365 to Ludlow Racecourse near Bromfield.

Andy Wilson, speaking for contractor Kier Services, said: "Please note that there will be no emergency vehicle access through the works as there is not enough space to accommodate this, please allow extra time to complete your journey."

Meanwhile the A489 north of Craven Arms remains closed between Horderley and Longville Common. It is expected to be shut for another two or three weeks for resurfacing and associated works.
