Man suffers serious head injuries in Oswestry assault

A man was taken to hospital with serious head injuries after unprovoked attack in the early hours in Oswestry.

The victim, a man is his 30s, left Gibsons nightclub in New Street shortly before the assault took place.

The attck happened between 3am to 4am on Sunday, February 21, in Clawdd Du alleyway between Willow Street and Bailey Street.

West Mercia Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC Dave Wagg, who is investigating the assault, said: "This was an unprovoked assault on the victim which has resulted in him sustaining serious injuries and being left unconscious.

"Somebody may have seen or heard something of this incident as it would have been busy in the general area with people leaving Gibsons nightclub and waiting for taxis at the end of the evening."

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or anyone who saw the victim, who was wearing a black jacket, jeans and distinctive multi-coloured Converse footwear, at the time.
