The challenge will see the 24-year-old education and inclusion manager, from Shrewsbury Town in the Community, tackling long distance runs all across the country.

She will be raising money to provide activities, equipment and support for children with Down's syndrome and cerebral palsy, which the club helps through its community scheme.

Jade was joined by her boyfriend, 25-year-old Edward Tomkiss, for the first run yesterday.

She said: "It was 100 per cent the most unusual Valentine's Day I have had in my life. My other half has been an absolute star for doing it with me. It is definitely out of the ordinary."

Jade, who lives at The Loggerheads in Shrewsbury, said that she had been inspired to take on the challenge after taking up her role at the club.

She said: "The reason why I want to do these 21 half marathons is to raise money for our disabled children's programme.

"Since I became head of education and inclusion I have been to see all the different sessions we put on for children who have Down's syndrome and cerebral palsy, and some of the facilities are not great and it really upset me.

"I thought these children deserve the best and I want to do what I can to give them that."

Jade said that taking part in the work carried out at Shrewsbury Town in the Community had been life changing.

She said: "I am proud of the work we do here. I have only been here for nine months but it has changed my life and made me realise that as a resident of Shrewsbury we need to do more to help elderly people and disadvantaged children."
