The man was stopped and searched by police officers at Shelton Playing Fields on Wednesday afternoon.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "At approximately 2.30pm, information was received that persons were dealing drugs in the vicinity of the Shelton Playing Fields.

"Patrol officers attended the location and carried out a search. A local male was stopped and searched by officers and an amount of cannabis was found. The male is currently subject to further police enquiries.

"The use of drugs have been reported previously at this location and it has been a local policing priority to identify any offenders.

"The use of a controlled drug such as cannabis is illegal and the use of drugs where young and old people enjoy their spare time is particularly upsetting.

"Members of the public enjoying their spare time do not want to see the use of it or come across the paraphernalia which is often left behind."
