Officers from the Donnington and Newport Safer Neighbourhood Teams gained entry to two properties in the Donnington area of town shortly after 3.30pm this afternoon.

Police acted after being granted a warrant by magistrates in Telford in relation to a property in East Avenue, Donnington.

Two males, aged 23 and 47, were arrested at this address where around £200 of what is believed to be cannabis and approximately £1,000 in cash were seized.

A second search was then carried out at a nearby property in Coronation Drive where a further, substantial amount of cannabis worth around £1,000, ready for sale was located along with other drug related equipment.

A 48-year-old female from that address was also arrested.

All three are in custody at Telford Police Station suspected of being involved in the supply of drugs in the local area.

Pc Nikki Scott from Donnington Police Station who was in charge of the raids said: "Again we are grateful to the local community for coming forward with the information which has led to today's operations.

"As a result of what local people were willing to tell us, the magistrates believed the case was strong enough to grant us a search warrant and that is what we have acted on.

"A large amount of money has been recovered and more importantly, a large amount of drugs have been taken of the streets of this part of Telford."

She added: "The good people of Donnington are fed up with their lives and the local area being blighted by drugs and all the problems that come along with them.

"Hopefully these latest raids demonstrate very clearly that when we have the information we need, we will act quickly to remove the problems from our streets and make our area a safer place for everyone."

Anyone with information regarding the sale or usage of drugs in the Telford area can contact the local police on 101 or pass the information free and anonymously via the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555111.
