Cyclist remains in critical condition after collision with car near Newport

A cyclist is in critical condition after colliding with a car near Newport.

Witnesses are wanted to the collision which saw the man in his 70s airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries.

Police were called shortly after 2.45pm yesterday afternoon to the collision involving a cyclist and a car on Longford Road, Newport.

A push bike was travelling from the direction of Newport on Longford Road, towards the junction with the Edgmond to Brockton Road, when it was involved in a collision with a Blue Renault travelling from the Edgmond area towards Brockton.

Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 342s of January 18.
