Kerrie Fitzpatrick was diagnosed with multiple endocrine neoplasia, a disorder that affects the body's hormone-producing glands, after suffering from weight gain, headaches and other symptoms.

The 44-year-old, of Suffolk Way, Horsehay, now wants to travel to Minnesota to start a course of treatment, believing it will give her a better quality of life. She has organised a string of fundraising events in the upcoming months.

Mrs Fitzpatrick is planning to hold a music festival, Kez Fest, on July 23 and has already been inundated with support. She is now looking for any landowners who may be able to lend their site for the event to get in touch.

A quiz night at the Telford Whitehouse Hotel in Wellington on February 27, from 6.30pm, also aims to pull in further funds for the cause. Teams of four can enter for £12 and there will also be raffle prizes.

Mrs Fitzpatrick, who works as a quality, health, safety and environmental manager, said:

"After I was diagnosed I contacted clinics around the world because I can't get the treatment in this country.

"I'm aiming to go to Minnesota but I need £36,000 to pay for it. My kids have been doing bake sales and we are also having a quiz night. Kez Fest is going to be the biggest event but I really need some land able to accommodate campers. I have eight local bands on board already. I really hope people will support this event."
