Pictures: Woman cut free from crash near Ironbridge Power Station

A woman is in a critical condition after a serious collision near the Ironbridge Power Station.

The B4380 Buildwas Road was closed during rush hour near the Much Wenlock Road junction.

The crash involved a red Volkswagen Polo and a silver Vokswagen Passat.

A yellow Scania lorry was also damaged in the collision.

The driver of the Polo, a woman in her 60s, was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital where she was in a critical condition.

There were no other reported injuries.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman Claire Brown said an emergency call was made at 7.03am.

She added: "An ambulance and a community paramedic attended.

"One woman was trapped and required extrication from the vehicle with help from the fire service.

"She suffered an arm injury and was treated on scene before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

"A second patient, a man, was out of the vehicle when emergency services arrived and refused hospital treatment."

The road had reopened by 9.15am once the cars and debris had been removed.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said one appliance from Telford Central was sent to the scene.

A spokesman said: "One fire appliance was mobilised from Telford Central. On arrival we found a collision involving two vehicles.

"One female casualty was released from a vehicle using holmatro equipment and was left in the care of the ambulance service."
