Pair held in probe on Telford GP clinic fraud

Two former members of staff from a Telford medical practice have reportedly been arrested for fraud.

A man and woman were arrested on December 20 and bailed until later this month.

The pair are reportedly accused of stealing money from Church Close Street Surgery in Madeley.

Holly Claydon-Bevan, a spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: "We are unable to confirm or deny the names of anyone who has been arrested.

"A 55-year-old man from Telford and a 52-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation.

"They are currently on police bail until January 17."

Clive Elliot, managing partner at Church Close Street Surgery, said: "While investigations are ongoing, we can't comment further."
