Anyone matching tomorrow's numbers are set to start the new year with an estimated £42.2 million in their pocket.

It is the biggest ever prize fund and comes after rules were changed to bring in 50 lottery numbers.

Cecil Walker, who owns Walkers Newsagents in Woodhouse Lane, Horsehay, Telford, said he was preparing for a late rush.

He said: "Whenever we have one of these rollovers there is always an upsurge in ticket sales, but that probably won't happen until later today.

"We always sell more tickets as we get closer to the draw and with yesterday being a Bank Holiday it will be a little quieter.

"Although people can buy tickets online, we have never noticed an impact of online sales affecting the tickets we sell. With a record jackpot we are expecting a queue."

A National Lottery spokeswoman said: "The Lotto jackpot is poised to break records.

"We are expecting £42.2m waiting to be won. A single winner would instantly become the biggest Lotto winner the nation has ever seen."
