Christmas came early for young patients on the women's and children's unit at the hospital when Bucks players visited the children with an array of presents.

Luke Shelley, head of community and youth at AFC Telford United, said: "It's a wonderful and humble experience to be here.

"There is never a good time to be in hospital but over Christmas it's tough for the children, and if we can put a smile on their faces by giving them some presents and some tickets then it's the least we can do."

The players handed out gifts and tickets to some of the children who will be in hospital over Christmas.

Anne Gilbert, play specialist at The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust, said: "I would like to say a big thank you to AFC Telford United for visiting our children's ward to donate toys, games and presents for our young patients.

"We really appreciate the players and staff taking the time out to visit us and these visits mean a lot to the children."
