A number of road closures remained in place in the Shrewsbury and Bridgnorth areas last night.

A statement on behalf of Shropshire Council's emergency planning unit said: "The rainfall totals forecast for the weekend have reduced but are still expected to produce a further peak in both the Severn and the Wye. Once again this peak is not expected to exceed those already seen this week.

"Flood defences are still deployed at Frankwell in Shrewsbury. These barriers are expected to remain in place over the weekend."
