Shropshire MP Mark Pritchard joins human rights committee

A Shropshire MP has been appointed to Parliament's Joint Committee on Human Rights.

Mark Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin will be part of the committee's 12 members, appointed from both the House of Commons and the House of Lords, to examine matters relating to human rights in the UK.

The committee is chaired by former acting Labour Party leader Harriet Harman.

Mr Pritchard said: "I am delighted to have been appointed to this important committee.

"Human Rights has been one of my key focuses since entering Parliament in 2005 and I look forward to working further on these important issues through my work on the committee."
