Husband and wife Thomas Holt and Emma Williams-Holt's passion for wine began in the cellars of Tanners Wine Merchants in Shrewsbury where they met and worked together.

Now the couple are thrilled to be launching their very own wine – at the place it all started.

Next Saturday, the couple will host a tasting of their Spanish wine Paso-Primero at Tanners.

Thomas, who studied viticultural and oenology – wine production – at Plumpton College in Brighton, said Paso-Primero is the culmination of 10 years of travel to discover the secrets of producing quality wine.

After packing up his studies, the couple, who are both from Shrewsbury, lived in New Zealand and then Canada before heading to Spain.

The couple drove around Spain before eventually stopping off at Somontano at the foot of the Pyrenees Mountains.

"It's a wonderful place, it's up and coming, it's relaxed and it's honest. It's real Spain, there's no tourism and it's meant we've made our own wine, an honest, everyday wine," said Thomas.

The official launch and tasting will take place from 11am on Saturday. Tanners will be the only retail outlet selling Paso-Primero, however it will be available at a number of bars and restaurants in the county, before expanding across the UK.
